4. SMS provisioning
CollisionLoop uses Telnyx for outbound SMS. Toll-free numbers (8XX) require carrier verification before they can deliver to U.S. mobile networks.
Prerequisites
Before you start:
- Business legal name, address, and phone match what’s on file with your state of incorporation
- EIN (encrypted at rest; never echoed back to the browser after submission)
- Public Privacy Policy URL — see Privacy & Terms URLs
- Public Terms & Conditions URL
Where to start
Settings → SMS provisioning
Owner-only.
What you’ll provide
The page is split into two halves:
Business identity
- Legal company name
- EIN
- Country (US)
- Entity type (LLC, S-Corp, etc.)
If any of these are missing the page shows a “Waiting for business details” banner and links you to the form to complete them. EIN is encrypted server-side and never shown back to the browser after submission.
Brand and campaign
- Area code preference for the toll-free number
- Brand name (the name customers see)
- Brand vertical (e.g. Automotive)
- Campaign use case (e.g. Mixed)
- Campaign description
- Sample message — pre-filled with realistic copy; edit if your tone differs
When everything is filled in, click Provision SMS number now. The verification record is submitted to Telnyx.
Verification status
The page shows the current status with a colored badge:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not started | No submission yet |
| Waiting for business details | Some required field is blank |
| Pending Telnyx review | Submitted; Telnyx is reviewing (typically 1–3 business days) |
| Pending carrier approval | Telnyx forwarded to T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T for final approval |
| In progress / Waiting for vendor | Mid-pipeline state |
| Action required | Telnyx needs more info from you — see the banner |
| Approved | You can send SMS to U.S. mobile numbers |
| Rejected / Failed | See the rejection reason and resubmit |
If Telnyx rejects
The reason appears as a banner on the SMS provisioning page. Common causes:
- Privacy URL does not mention SMS — add a paragraph about SMS data collection to your privacy page
- Business address mismatch — your address must match what’s on file with your state of incorporation; update it in Settings → Business details (or Settings → Locations, then update the headquarters location), then resubmit
- Brand vertical or use case mismatch — pick the option that most closely matches what your shop actually does
After fixing, resubmit from the same page.
Local 10DLC
Once your toll-free number is Approved, the SMS provisioning page surfaces an option to request a local 10DLC number. Treat this as an upgrade path, not a prerequisite — toll-free is sufficient for normal shop operations.
